About Me

Journalist | Editor | Content Specialist | Genius |
Hi, my name is Chidinma

But most people call me Dinma.

My content career may have started artlessly in 2018 when I would pillage through several rabbit holes of sensational content, looking for the next big, controversial story to earn me royalties in the blog I contributed to. But that has since changed into almost half a decade of solid content work—from going behind ideas to creating their distribution strategies, building out communication channels, managing writers, and doing extensive journalism on some of the biggest issues that affect us today.

I like to say I’ve touched across the board, yet the central idea of my art is to bring life to the content people come across, seeing as it’s a big defining factor for important life choices. People will naturally interact with content hundreds of times a day, and I’ve made it a duty to ensure that it’s content that improves their lives, whether it’s my in-depth journalistic reports or a SaaS explainer that influences a good purchase.

If it means I have to write and reinvent this content myself in several formats, I’ll do it— and have done it for KeyShot, Localazy, Forbes Advisor, Virayo, Clickup, Feats, etc. If I have to create just the strategy that shapes how people interact with it, I will, and have done this sweepingly too. And if editing is just where my flair dances best, then content will get that part of me. This seems like wearing many hats, yes, but over the years as my work has evolved, I’ve realized it’s not. I’m simply an artist interested in the healthy development of their artwork.

My strong journalism background is a big influence on the crisp, no-fluff, and impactful content I’ve created. I report about a range of issues from culture to the future of disruptive tech to money, economic justice and sustainability for Fast Company, Shondaland, Worth, Container Magazine, ARTnews, BBC, and several more. I’m very interested in going behind phenomena that underpin what drives human living and have done pretty solid work in this regard.

My currently-on-hiatus freelance writer community, Crealo Africa, has helped many hundred African writers find guidance and a strong footing in navigating the deeply exploitative market of freelancing, and I plan to get it started again this year.

Industries I’ve Worked With

I understand what editors are interested in, what readers pine for, and how much impact a good story can have. Some media houses where my work has frequently been featured are Missing Perspectives, The Daily Dot, DIRT, the Daily Mail, Non-profit Quarterly, etc. Others include BBC, Complex, Worth, Shondaland, Fast Company, and more.

My work shines spectacularly within content agencies and I’m particularly in love with how structured our collaborations are. They’re also most of my long-term clients (and you can be too!). I currently edit and write for Toth Shop, do occasional in-depth blogs for Virayo Studios, and have previously worked with Stacker Studios and Atlantic Blockchain company.

Only great content can sell good software—especially if it’s to innovative business leaders— and founders who understand this partner with me. I create a broad range of marketing content from blogs to case studies and web copy, as well as develop content strategies that include their distribution channels for Localazy, KeyShot, Feats, ClickUp, and many more.

Well, who’s not obsessed about small, new innovative businesses disrupting decades-long business systems from a small place and contributing to economic growth at a larger scale? Definitely not me. I love to sit with small business owners, independent artists, and new innovators and be the voice that properly encapsulates the essence of their work.

I love the numbers and data associated with writing about the impact of fintech, edtech, food tech, etc on consumption, e-commerce, and society, and I’ve been able to work for some forward-thinking startups and companies within the past few years. Some of these include, HartMann Capital, Recent, Astroman Legacy Group, Chirr App, etc.

What My Work Process Looks Like

It could be over mundane text on LinkedIn, a lengthy email where I try to contextualize the importance of my work’s worth to your growth, under a tweet where I link my website, or maybe even—very uncommonly—over a call. What’s important is that we establish that a collaboration is happening.

What’s next is to get right into every minute and major detail that’ll define the deliverable, or the entirety of our collaboration. We discuss everything from turnaround time to rates and project size. Some things to expect:

  • Some pre-research on my end to determine if the project is worth doing, if it’s a fit for me, and how comprehensive the topic is.
  • A couple rounds of calls to cover important details that may be otherwise lost in email back and forths.
  • A simple rates negotiation process.
  • Discussing turnaround timeline dates that suit your content calendar and my schedule.

I like editors and content managers—and even founders sometimes if we’re working directly together—to be a part of my process. I prioritize feedback and healthy, constant communication. Some things to expect.

  • A brief first, if you’re not providing one. This is usually at an extra charge after our first project together. You approve the brief and I continue working.
  • Questions for clarity that may arise during research and interviews with thought experts (if they’ll be a part of the project).

At the agreed date, you get a crisp copy in your email. On the rare occasions that I may not meet up on an agreed date, I relay the info 2 days prior and propose a considerable date that doesn’t inconvenience you.

If it’s a writing project, I usually do 2-3 rounds of edits (mostly for extensive reporting or case studies), and 1 round of edit for content pieces like blogs or shorter copies.

You’ll get this to your email after the first round of edit. Payment is a standard net-10 for me, but this is flexible till net-30.

I love some healthy communication. If you’re publishing immediately, holding off for a while, experiencing delays with processing a payment—or literally anything else—I’d love to be in the loop.
